Just Like Pop!

So, moms and grandpop were telling me how much this little guy looked like his pop, but i didn't believe it until I saw it....an uncanny resemblance, right down to the eyebrows. It's perfectly fitting that he is named after him too! If I wasn't totally ready for my little man, this one put me over the edge---he was the same size Coop was when he was born,and had the same fair hair and light eyes. Counting down the days over here, but in the meantime, wanted to show off a few images of this sweet little man from yesterday!

This darling little redhead is just one of my favorite little ones to photograph---she is full of grins and smiles, and has the best wardrobe of any tot I know! Ahhh, this little man has done it again. Wrestling Buddies!

So this session started off just how you would expect a session with twin toddler tots to go---a little crazy, a lot fun, and a definite challenge. After they warmed up to me though we started getting some cute shots. Emboldened, and while they were sitting together on a crate, I asked little man to hug his sister....or maybe it was vice versa.....and within seconds they were rolling around on the grass. I just couldn't help myself---how wonderful to have a best friend for life, there with you from the first minute. We go some really cute shots mom, but these make me want to cry---they really show how much love they have for each other and how much fun they have together! So while you will get a bunch of non-wrestling shots in your gallery, these were my favs, and the ones I couldn't help but share- enjoy!

This sweet little pumpkin was such a treat to photograph this morning. We had started her first birthday session on Irene eve,and had to end early when the dark clouds rolled in. I can't say I'm upset about that though, because today, the little pumpkin warmed right up to me and we were able to get some beautiful smiles and great expressions out of her! I have to start off by saying that I have never seen a baby girl so infatuated with her daddy---it was pretty crazy! Even at three days old (yes, you saw that correctly- this little chunk weighing almost eleven pounds was only three days old in front of the camera) she focused on him wherever he was in the room. It's a Small World After All...

Salisbury is such a small town---I was having dinner with some wonderful friends last night and one of them mentioned a friend who just had a baby and named him the same name as we are naming our new addition, and to top that off, her older son shares the same name as mine---crazy huh? So then, that night I get an email from this lovely momma inquiring about newborn pics! I just had to meet her, considering she has such exceptional taste in boy names, and so we were able to squeeze her in this morning, and the "small worldness" didn't stop there.....ahhh, living in a small town can be too funny! One Tough Little Peanut

This little guy is a fighter----a tough little peanut. He has had mommy in and out of the hospital since week 6 and has been scaring the heck out of his family since then. Momma didn't have an easy road with this one, but I have heard that the hard pregnancies/l&d lead to really easy babies, so if that's the case, this little guy will be a piece of cake. Just Beachy! (Assateague Family Portraits)

So, I know Irene made last weekend very difficult, but, maybe as a sign of her remorse, it has been the most beautiful week down at the beach that I can remember in a really long time. Yes, the bugs are biting, but....the beach is gorgeous, the temperatures are mild, the ponies are out in abundance in Assateague, gorgeous sunsets, and I couldn't be happier. Where Did A Year Go?

I just can't believe that this little cutie is already one year old...i feel like it was MAYBE five months ago that we were doing his newborn photos.....wow! Fall Mini Sessions Are Here!

It's that time of year again- time for those fall mini sessions! Mini sessions are the perfect way to get "just a few" shots for holiday gifts and Christmas cards---and since I will be on maternity leave starting in October, the easiest way to get your fall portraits done! And this year, there are some print options so that you can knock out that Christmas shopping early too!

Dates and Locations: Dates for the mini sessions are as follows-- September 17th--- Pasadena MD--Downs Park (note there is a $6 entrance fee to gain entry to the park not included in this deal), and October 1st---Salisbury MD---- Pemberton Park. Location specifics may change to a comparable loacation within 10 or so miles of designated location if the need arises- emails with information will be sent out as soon as possible in this event.

Timing: Mini sessions will last approximately 15 minutes, and will be scheduled every 20 minutes, so please come early and have your family ready to go at your selected shoot time as we will be on a tight tight schedule. A detailed email with all specific details as to where exactly to meet/meetup, will be sent out a few days prior to your session. Sessions will be held at 8:20, 8:40, 9:00, 9:20, 9:40, and 10 am in the morning. Evening sessions will be held in Pasadena at 5:00, 5:20, 5:40, 6:00, 6:20, and 6:40. Evening sessions in Salisbury will be held at 4:40, 5:00, 5:20, 5:40, 6:00, 6:20.

Who are these good for: Mini sessions are ideal for families with children who are comfortable in front of the camera and do not require ample time to "warm up" to the photographer. If children are going to be photographed alone, they must be able to "prop up" on their tunnies and hold their heads up well. Mini sessions are also great for couples photos, teens, and older children. Sometimes, because of time constraints, these are not ideal for younger children to be photographed alone--- but that is in your judgement mommies and daddies!

Cost: This year, there will be three different options for mini sessions. You must let me know when signing up which of the packages you are interested in.

Basic mini-- 15 minute session and a disk with ten images from your session --- $150

Sterling mini--15 minute session and a disk with ten images from your session, and a $100 print value (1 8x10, 2 5x7s, 2 sets of wallets) ---$200

Platinum mini-- 15 minute session, disk with ten images from your session, and $180.00 print value (1 11x14, 2 8x10, 4 5x7s, 2 sets of wallets)--- $250

If you will be having your disks/prints shipped to you as opposed to picking them up at the studio, there will be an additional $5 shipping charge. Mini session fees must be paid a the time of booking to reserve/confirm your time slot.

How to sign up: On Monday August 15th at noon, I will be opening up the time slots for mini sessions, which will be first come, first serve. To reserve a spot, email me at kristinstaples@comcast.net and specify your top three choices for mini sessions including date, location and times. I will email you back and let you know which of the time slots is yours, and ask you a few questions regarding your session. Your slot will be held for three days so that you can send payment in full (either via check./cash./paypal) to confirm your spot.

Rain policy: There is no raindate for the Pasadena mini sessions. The raindate for the Salisbury mini sessions is Sunday, October 2nd. The email I send out prior to your session will have specific information of how to touch base if you are unsure regarding the weather. In the event of a weather cancellation, you will receive a gift certificate in the amount of your mini session (plus 20%) to be used with KSP. If you paid for an upgraded session (sterling or platinum those monies will be refunded monetarily.

Cancellation/No shows: The $150 mini session fee is non-refundable in the event of cancellation/no-show. You may ask someone to fill your spot, or if advance notice is given, i can go to my wait list to see if I can find someone for your time slot, in which case your monies will be refunded as soon as their payment is received . If you have paid for the sterling or platinum collection, the additional funds will be refunded monetarily. In the event of a true emergency, we may try to switch times, etc so that you may still be able to shoot a mini session, but at the discretion/availability of the photographer.

What to wear: Children---I always love bright colors and fun accessories, so those are always my suggestion. You want something that is going to allow your child's personality to really shine through. Layers photograph really well. Try to steer clear of small prints and stripes, as sometimes they don't photograph well. Comfort is key--if your child is uncomfortable, we aren't going to get great shots. Instead go with relaxed and casual to fit the environment we are shooting in. Families-- You will want to all coordinate, but not be too "matchy". I suggest going for two neutral colors (for example denim and white), and then a color(navy blue) and and accent color (kelly green) and having everyone in that family of colors. You can mix in an argyle or a stripe here and there, and really play with the accessories to make your photos really stand out!

I just wanted to give a quick heads up that the fall mini sessions will be held on Saturday September 17th in Annapolis, and Saturday October 1st in Salisbury. I will be posting more details tonight or tomorrow morning, and will open for booking at noon on Monday. I just love this family- every year I so look forward to their photos---i love catching up and seeing how big (even though it makes me a little sad) little M has gotten, spending time with them, and seeing what mom has brought for their wardrobes--she does not disappoint. I love to be a part of people's vacations----and you guys definitely know how to make a girl feel special! I was so excited when K contacted me to do her pics---I hadn't seen her in years, and not since her adorable little ones (the twins!) had been born...well, tonight couldn't have been more perfect- we saw lots of ponies, got to kick around some sand, and raced up and down the beach (all in between posing for a some pics!). I called him a firecracker, and fittingly so, because he was born on the fourth of July, making him the ripe old age of 11 days today! This session was a bit bittersweet---it was so lovely to see a family together, but a little sad too, because it was the last time they would all be able to get together for a while. This beautiful little angel was a sneaky one....she knocked out cold for me, but must have had a second sense of when my camera was down, because she would put out the biggest smiles the second I would drop it....over, and over, and over again! This little high flying munchkin just stole my heart today---he was an absolute dream to work with, and it was great to catch up with mom too! These two are due in about a month with Baby B- and I couldn't be more excited. She refused to look at the camera, and made me chase her through he park, the zoo, and everywhere in between. I thought long and hard about what to name this post. Last night was one for the record books. I have been doing pictures of this family for years, and just love working with them, but last night...well, last night was different. And while I adore the clothes mom picked out for the session, and everything about these guys....I think the mosquitoes loved them better (and me too!). I have never experienced anything like it in my life. Within seconds of getting out of the car w were coated in bugs---uck. They must have thought that we were all incredibly sweet, hence the post title. But between swats we managed to get some incredible shots. Not quite sure how, but wow! This little guy was born six and a half weeks early, but, except for being a tiny guy- you would have no clue! He was a sleepy little thing at two weeks old, and was such a pleasure to work with! I was a bit worried to have a three week old "newborn" in the studio, but this little darling was such an angel! I don't even know where to start with this session. This little boy was one of the sweetest, most handsome little boys, and I could have gushed over him all day---and I have a feeling that he will be gushed over for years to come with those adorable features and big round eyes. I think he's the spitting image of his beautiful momma, and have a feeling that he may just learn how to shoot hoops before he's even walking, if Daddy has anything to do with it :) Enjoy your beautiful baby boy, and Happy Mothers Day! Big C- 4 Days New!

This newborn was certainly no little guy- tipping the scales at 9 pounds , 15 oz. on day on his fourth day of life. When his proud momma and dad brought him in, he looked like a one month old! But, he couldn't have been any cuter, or any better for his pictures! I was so glad I got to meet him. Congratulations you two- love you both and I am so happy for you! Oh, and how can I leave out big brother-- you did a great job today- next time you come over i promise we can play, and no pictures! Enjoy that chunk of a baby with all your might!

B is for Beautiful!

This little cutie was a frisky one- she wasn't quite sure how she felt about getting her photos done, and fought us for quite a while. But, we did manage to get some beautiful photos- our perserverance and patience certainly paid off. We got some great shots of this wide eyed baby, and some cute sleepy ones (although don't let them fool you- the most sleep time we got was five minutes!). This beautiful little girl was the tiniest newborn that I have photographed, to date. Weighing in at a little over 4 pounds (at four weeks old), she was itty bitty and just as sweet as can be. And she made the funniest/cutest little baby noises. I should have recorded them for the next time I'm in a bad mood- sure to bring a smile! I was bummed when weather caused us to have to reschedule, becasue I have been taking portraits of this handsome fella since the beginning, and was excited to commemorate the Big 0-5. You got it- this handsome little gentleman just turned five, and couldn't have been any sweeter, or any more fun to photograph today- a far cry from the first time I photographed him when he did anything he could to get away from me :) I can't get enough of his smiles- a full range from mischievous little grin to sweet as sugar- he is a happy little dude and loves his momma! So glad to see you guys today- it was a pleasure, as always!

I am still in disbelief that this adorable little guy is one- these kids lately are just growing up way too quickly in front of my camera. But, we had a wonderful first birthday session for Handsome little A- he is such a happy little dude, and just as cute as can be! I just adore him, and mom and dad are pretty great too! Thanks for letting me get some quality time in with little man on his big day- hope it was super special.
